  • Abstract:

For 3 years, the author collected user input concerning the use of two e-texts as the primary resources for the University of Oklahoma Construction Science Construction Administration and Construction Equipment and Methods courses. Because of the departure from using traditional hard-bound texts, the author hoped to affirm from user input that the e-texts were effective and suitable as the primary course resources. Users completed a survey at the end of each of the six offerings, addressing their perceptions about the e-texts’ use and delivery. Survey results included in this article are categorized and reported by Construction Administration E-text and Heavy Construction Equipment Basics E-text, course offering (Fall 2003 through Spring 2006) and as a whole. Along with reporting survey results this article describes the e-texts’ content and delivery. Based on survey results, comments from users and the author’s past experience of using traditional texts in these courses, these e-texts appear to be effective and suitable as primary resources.
